Liberty County special education programs are founded upon the belief that all children are capable of learning and being successful in school experiences which are designed to develop academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and independence skills for active participation in their community. The comprehensive special education program offered by Liberty County Cooperative provides services for students ages 3 through 22 who have been identified as disabled These disabilities may include students who are: physically challenged, visually or auditorially impaired, mentally retarded, emotionally disturbed, language and learning disabled, speech impaired, and other health impaired. Students who meet special education eligibility criteria as specified in federal and state regulations receive an individualized educational plan. Certified special education teachers, support personnel, administrators work together with the parent to develop an appropriate educational program for the student. The services are child-centered and designed to address individual student's learning needs. Students with disabilities have a wide range of individual needs; therefore, a continuum of program supports are available. The continuum of services include: inclusion, resource, content mastery, self-contained instruction, life skills, related services, vision instruction, homebound instruction and adaptive transportation. |
