Sierra Morrison, LHS sophomore, was named Outstanding Performer at UIL Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest. This is Sierra’s second year to receive this award. To have received it last year as a freshman was outstanding. To have received the award for a second year is amazing!!! Of the approximately 95,000 students participating at the region UIL music contests and the 24,000 musicians who performed at Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest in band, choir, and orchestra, only approximately 300 students earned the distinguished honor of being recognized as an Outstanding Performer. I don't know how many, if any, of those students have received the award more than once. This achievement is a mark of musical excellence! In recognition of this honor Sierra will receive a medallion identical to those awarded to state champions in all UIL events. If you run into Sierra make sure you congratulate her on this accomplishment!
The LHS Panther Band has advanced to the area level in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance series! A recording of our march "Domingo Ortega" and our performance of "Steel" was submitted and advanced and will be judged at area to see who will advance to State. More details later.
Students and staff of Liberty ISD missed three instructional days due to bad weather in January. The first bad weather day was made up on February 17th, and the second day will be made up on our previously scheduled bad weather day of June 6th. In order to accommodate end-of-year activities, two additional changes have been made to the District calendar. Wednesday, April 30th, was scheduled as an early dismissal day and will change to a full instructional day. Thursday, June 5th, was scheduled as a full instructional day and will become an early dismissal day. If you have any questions, please contact your campus principal. We want to thank our students, parents, teachers, community members, and Board members for continuing to work with the District to provide for the success of our students.
